About Sonja

I'm originally from New York City, but I've spent enough time in LA to consider myself both an Angelino and a Valley Girl.  I majored in Gender Studies at UC Davis with a minor in Film Studies.  I also earned a degree in Special Education Instruction from National University.

I spent the majority of my 20s teaching Algebra and Cooking at a Special Education High School in North Hills, California.  During that time I started producing short films and music videos, just for fun.  Soon I found myself thinking of nothing besides getting on set and working with crews, so I had to leave my amazing students to go make my dreams come true.

And they all came true!!  Or at least I'm on the right track and have gotten the opportunity to produce projects for incredible directors, sell our films to major companies and garner really positive critical response.

I produce feature films, short films, commercials, music videos and web series in addition to lending support to numerous productions.  I'm also the festival director for the Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival, founded in 2014.

I run Flathead Films, a full service production company specializing in Music Videos and Short Films.

I'm a proud member of the Producers Guild of America.

Check out this lovely interview with me from February 5th, 2019 in VoyageLA.

You can listen to me talk about my life, love and work on the August 8th, 2017 edition of Y-Tunes Shuffle HERE
